Owls Sweep Top Four at Mercer

ATLANTA, Ga. - Junior Erin Sutton won her second straight race of the 2007 season on Saturday as the Kennesaw State Women's cross country team swept the top four at the Mercer Atlanta Invitational. The Owls (1-2-3-4-6) once again dominated their competition as they out paced the 11 team field with an almost perfect 16 points. Mercer finished second with 49 points and Agnes Scott College came in third with 101 points. "Our women had an amazing day," said head coach Stan Sims. "The ladies are doing everything right. They work hard everyday at practice and its showing." Sutton won the Mercer Invitational for the second straight season with a time of 20:10.10. Mackenzie Howe (20:24.72), Kristen Gibson (21:21.43) and Britany Reilly (21:40.02) crossed the finish line shortly after finishing in second, third and fourth place. Soibhan Wolcott took home sixth with a time of 21:45.46. Caitlin German finished in seventh place after crossing the line in 22:06.36 and Lorena Jaime rounded out the Owls roster in 13th place after posting a time of 22:32.33. The Owls (17-0) will return to action next Saturday when they participate in the Georgia State Invitational held in Atlanta. Mercer Atlanta Invitational Team Results Individual Results |
