KSU Athletics Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

KENNESAW, Ga. - In conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Kennesaw State Athletic Department and its Fall Sports teams will be sponsoring Breast Cancer Awareness dates on Friday, October 17th and Saturday, October 18th.

The first 100 fans at each event will receive a free pink KSU Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt. If you are planning on attending either event please wear pink to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of the proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Side-Out Foundation. Donations will be accepted at both events along with a 50-50 raffle or you can donate online at http://www.sideoutvolleyball.org/mainevent/minievent/Kennesaw/ .

"We all know someone whose life has been affected by breast cancer," said head volleyball coach Valerie Jones. "Even though times are tough right now, please, everyone try and make at least a small donation. Every little bit helps."

Breast Cancer Quick Facts
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, it's estimated that about 178,480 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer in 2008. Right now there are slightly over 2 million women living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer.

The KSU Soccer team takes on East Tennessee State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night at the KSU Soccer Field while the volleyball team hosts ETSU at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
