Homestand Continues Tuesday for Owls
Sept. 23, 2008
KENNESAW, Ga.--The Kennesaw State volleyball team will step out of conference action again Tuesday night as the Owls host the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Lady Mocs at the KSU Convocation Center. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. KSU faculty and staff members, in addition to their families, will receive free admission to the match with proper identification. The Owls (2-10) enter the match 1-2 on their current homestand. The Owls lost 3-0 decisions to Wofford and Florida Gulf Coast last Tuesday and Saturday, respectively, but defeated Stetson 3-2 on Friday night at the Convocation Center. Junior Chelsey Denesha recorded a season-high 18 kills along with a personal-best 14 digs for her first double-double of the season in the win over Stetson. Rachael Albright and Paris Leonce each recorded double-doubles as well, with Albright tallying 44 assists and 11 digs and Leonce notching 10 kills and 11 digs. Eman Burns had 21 digs for the Owls, the second-most for a KSU player in a match in the program's three-year history. Denesha is tied with Sabrita Gulley for the team lead in kills per set with 2.10. Denesha has a team-best 86 kills on the year, while Gulley had 84. Junior Selina O'Leary was the only Kennesaw State volleyball player to play in every set of every match in program history until an injury kept her out of last weekend's matches. O'Leary had played in 197 sets and 60 matches. The Lady Mocs enter the Convocation Center with a 5-9 overall mark and losers in four of their last five contests. Included in that stretch is a four-set loss to one of KSU's Atlantic Sun Conference rivals in Belmont. Last weekend, the Lady Mocs went 1-2 at the Samford/UAB Invitational, defeating Alabama A&M but losing to Florida International and Memphis. Following Tuesday's contest, the Owls will be off until Saturday afternoon when Campbell visits the Convocation Center. The final match of the homestand will start at 5:00 p.m. |
