Owls Continue Homestand Friday

Sept. 18, 2008

KENNESAW, Ga.-- The Kennesaw State volleyball team opens an important Atlantic Sun Conference weekend with a contest against Stetson at the KSU Convocation Center. Friday's match marks the second of a five-match homestand for the Kennesaw State squad.

Kennesaw State (1-9, 0-3 A-Sun) and Stetson (1-7, 0-2) played a five-game thriller last season at the Convocation Center. Setter Tara Dillon set a KSU record with 63 assists in the loss. Two of the games went to extra points, with Stetson winning game three 32-30 and KSU winning game four, 33-31. Four Owls had double-doubles in that match, including returnees Dillon and Sabrita Gulley.

In the previous match for the Owls, sophomore Paris Leonce had a team-high seven kills, but it wasn't enough as the Kennesaw State volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-20) to the Wofford Terriers on Tuesday night. The loss dropped KSU to 1-3 at home this season.

The Hatters have not played since dropping a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) decision to Campbell last Friday in DeLand, Fla. Rebecca Orzechowicz leads the Hatters with 2.57 kills per set. This trip will be the first trip out of the state of Florida for Stetson this season.

Kennesaw State continues Atlantic Sun Conference play with a match against Florida Gulf Coast. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. All youth volleyball players in eighth grade and under will be allowed free admission for Saturday's match, with a free post-match clinic to follow. For more information on the clinic, contact the KSU Marketing office at 678.797.2171.
