Plotner Nets Second Consecutive Double-Double
Nov. 2, 2007 Lindsey Plotner earned her second consecutive double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs, but the Kennesaw State volleyball team fell 3-1 (30-25, 26-30, 30-20, 30-23) to East Tennessee State on Friday night in Johnson City, Tenn. After the Owls attack sputtered to just six kills in a 30-25 loss in game one, the Owls stunned the Lady Bucs by stealing the second game. Tied at 26-all, the Black and Gold went on a 4-0 run to end the game. Following a timeout by KSU head coach Valerie Jones, a Plotner kill put the Owls ahead by a point. The front-line defense stood tall for the Owls, as a solo block by Rachel Odom put KSU ahead by two. Up 28-26, an attack error by the home team made it 29-26. With game point in hand, the Owls got a block by Odom and Sabrita Gulley to give the visiting team game two, 30-26. In the third game, ETSU came back with a vengeance, hitting for a .417 attack percentage to win 30-20. The finale saw the home team amass 17 kills in getting the clinching win, 30-23. Gulley joined Plotner in double-figures in kills with 10. Jenny Black had eight kills and eight digs, while Odom had five total blocks. The Owls outblocked ETSU 9.0-5.0. Kaena Apana recorded her 690th dig on the season for ETSU, breaking the single-season record in the A-Sun. Apana led all back-row defenders with 21 digs. The Owls (4-23, 2-8 A-Sun) will close the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they face USC Upstate. Match time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C. |
