Attin-Johnson, Owls Receive National Honor
Sept. 26, 2007
KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's soccer team continues to rack up the accolades as Maylee Attin-Johnson was named to the Soccer Buzz Magazine Team of the Week, while the squad as a whole was honored in the NSCAA Poll as released by the organizations late Tuesday evening. Attin-Johnson was selected as one of 18 players to make the list this week out of a total of 5,000 eligible players around the country. She joins Nancy Haskell (Davidson), Jill Hutchinson (Wake Forest) and Rachel Lopez (LSU) as the only players honored from the Southeast Region. The Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago native heavily contributed to the pair of the Owls' 1-0 wins over UAB and Elon last week. Against the Blazers, she scored the only goal of the match off a free kick and then assisted on Caitlin Dingle's goal to down the Phoenix last Sunday afternoon. "I'm excited that Maylee was honored by Soccer Buzz Magazine after her great performances," said head coach Rob King. "That's big for one of our girls to be included from over 5,000 players who played D1 this past week." In addition to the individual honors, Kennesaw State continues to get the nation's attention as the Owls received votes in this week's NSCAA Southeast Region poll. The honor comes a day after the Owls were recognized by Soccer Buzz in its Southeast Region poll. KSU will look to stretch its consecutive win streak to six when the Owls open Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday night against Stetson. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the KSU Soccer Complex. |
