Owls Add Canadian Standout for '08

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State women's soccer head coach Rob King, announced on Thursday morning that Thais Gibson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Owls, beginning in the fall of 2008.

Gibson comes to KSU after a successful prep and international career in Canada. The King City, Ontario product starred for three years at Country Day School and helped lead the Cyclones to three CISA National School Championships from 2004-06. Gibson paced the squad with 33 goals during her career.

The standout midfielder helped lead her club team, the Richmond Hill 89's, to the 2007 Ontario Cup, as well as the No.1 ranking for all under-18 club teams throughout Canada.

In addition to her prep and club career, Gibson has a wealth of international experience, having played for Team Ontario for the last four years. The midfielder and team captain was named the Most Valuable Player in the Gothia Cup in Sweden and the Mexico City Cup.

"Thais is a tremendous athlete and player, who will contribute immediately to our program," said King. "She's experienced winning national championships at the club level and we are looking forward to her joining our Owls family."

Gibson is an all-around athlete who has also played three years of ice hockey for the Mississauga Chiefs, as well as being an accomplished track star. Thais won gold medals in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash and took the silver medal in the 400-meters at the 2007 CISA Championships.
