Owls Wear Pink for a Cure

Oct. 20, 2008

KENNESAW, Ga. - In recognition of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Kennesaw State Women's Golf Team will wear pink shoelaces in their final fall event to show their support for the cause.

In addition to wearing pink shoelaces, the Owls will donate five dollars to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for every birdie recorded by the team during the upcoming Pat Bradley Invitational on October 26-27. The team is encouraging anyone interested to make a matching contribution based on the number of birdies they make at the 54-hole event.

"Wearing pink shoelaces is a fun way for the team to show support for Breast Cancer awareness month and the Susan G. Komen foundation," said Kennesaw State Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "Our hope is to raise a significant amount of money, as the more birdies we have, the better for both the team and the Foundation."

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage and has been providing funding and research for nearly 25 years. The Foundation has raised and distributed over one billion dollars since 1982 and is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.

For more information or to pledge a matching contribution, contact Coach Brinsmead at 770-423-6455 or by email at rbrinsme@kennesaw.edu.
