Season Concludes With Trip to Mercer

Feb. 29, 2008

MACON, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's basketball team will wrap-up the 2007-08 season on Saturday afternoon when the Lady Owls take on the Mercer Bears at 2:00 p.m. inside the University Center. Fans can follow all the action on the web via A-Sun TV.

The Lady Owls (15-12, 10-5 A-Sun) are coming off a tough one-point loss, 50-49, at North Florida on Monday night. KSU let a late 12-point lead slip away as UNF put together a 12-3 run down the stretch to quell the Black and Gold's chances of going 3-0 in their final games of the season.

Britteny Henderson notched her 11th double-double of the season with a 20-point, 15-rebound performance against the Lady Ospreys. The 5-11 forward from Atlanta has paced the squad all season, leading in points per game (14.3) and rebounds (8.9 rpg), and is the only student-athlete to be named A-Sun Women's Basketball Player of the Week three times this season.

Greteya Kelley is close behind Henderson, averaging 13.8 points per contest and leads the A-Sun and is fifth in the nation with 3.81 steals per game. Ashley Johnson has done a stellar job running the KSU offense, as the Lady Owls' point guard is fourth in the conference with 4.08 assists per game and fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.33)

Mercer (4-24, 1-14) comes into this weekend's showdown after dropping its seventh straight game in the form of a 84-66 loss at Jacksonville on Monday evening. Kourtney Carter led the Bears with 15 points while Cristin Seymour chipped in 14 and TaShera Lewis had 12.

The Bears have won just one conference game, a 74-61 victory over USC Upstate on February 2. Mercer enters averaging 57.4 points per game, but gives up a league-worst 72.0 points per game average.

Kennesaw State holds a 3-2 lead in the all-time series after securing a 68-52 win on January 5 at the KSU Convocation Center. Henderson guided the Lady Owls with 16 points to go with 11 rebounds.

Despite currently sitting fourth in the league standings, KSU is ineligible for next week's conference tournament due to the NCAA reclassifying process.
