JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - On Saturday morning, the Kennesaw State men's cross country team was led to a second place finish by sophomore Peikko Solla at the Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational. The men came within just a few positions of gaining a victory as they ended their final race before the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.

The Owls (4-1, 86-12) kicked up a trail of dust as they moved over the 5 mile course. With four runners finishing in the top fifteen the men scored 44 points for a second place finish. Host JSU won the meet with a total of 24 points and Morehouse took third place with 55 points.

As the reigning A-Sun Runner of the Week, Solla led the team through the final two miles of the race, as he was running with the leading pack of competitors. He finished in fourth place with a time of 26:03.8. This marked the fourth time this season that he was the leading scorer for KSU.

Teammate Nathan Haskins was the next highest placing runner as he finished in seventh position with a time of 26:28. He was followed by Maxwell Ndungu who turned in one of his best performances of the year as he finished in eighth place (26:17). Freshmen Piotr Witczak finished in tenth place (26:36) and Steven Murray finished in 15th place (27:23) to complete the scoring for the Owls.

"Nathan and Peikko did well today," said head coach Stan Sims. "I wanted them to get off the line and stay out in front to the end. Conference is coming up in two weeks. If we want to win all of our guys are going to have to do the same thing."

The Owls will be back in action on October 27th as they travel to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in Nashville, Tennessee.
