KENNESAW, Ga. - The 2006-07 season was a strong one for Kennesaw State as the Owls took home a pair of conference titles in women's soccer and softball, had three conference players of the year and had no fewer than 60 all-conference awards presented to individual athletes.

In just its second season in the Atlantic Sun Conference, Kennesaw State's success began in the fall with an A-Sun regular season title in women's soccer. Head Coach Rob King had the conference Player of the Year in Laura Tucker and saw nine players receive all-conference recognition.

In the spring, Kennesaw State head softball coach, Scott Whitlock, took home conference Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season as the Owls captured the A-Sun regular season crown behind the talents of Player of the Year, Keri McKee and Pitcher of the Year, Brittany Matthews.

Nine players in five different sports received A-Sun All-Freshman honors. Staci Pugh and Bridgett Gaughan earned accolades in women's soccer while Kyle Heckathorn and Jace Whitmer received the honor in baseball. Peikko Solla and Soibhan Wolcott were award winners in cross-country. Meanwhile, Ginny Frederick received an all-freshman honor in volleyball, Rosetta Hollis in women's basketball and Klair Wells in softball.

In track, Kennesaw State had nine individual champions during the season including Scott Burley, who set the A-Sun Outdoor Track record in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase.

Women's programs had 31 all-conference award winners while the men's programs had 29 players earn all-conference honors. The women's soccer program led the team sports with nine honorees while the men's indoor track team saw athletes earn 16 A-Sun honors.
