KENNESAW, Ga. - Tennis anyone? The refurbishing of the Kennesaw State Tennis Complex is now complete and the eight-court, on campus complex is looking better than ever as it is ready for the 2007-08 season.

The three-week project was funded by a joint venture between the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Intramural Sports, Continuing Education and the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Science.

"We are really grateful for all of the campus collaboration that went into this project," said Director of Tennis Operations, T.J. Greggs. "This project would have never been possible without the cooperation of Con Ed, HPS and Intramurals."

The courts have been refinished and are now blue with a sea foam green border. New benches, windscreens, posts, signage, nets and scorecards are in place with the courts ready for play this week.

The KSU Department of Plant Operations completed the first project of the renovation, a refinishing and painting of the fences surrounding the courts.

"We are excited about the new look to the facility," said head coach Brandon Padgett. "This is a new era for our tennis program and it's great to have a new facility to kick things off. We can't wait for the fall season to begin."

The complex, which has not hosted a competitive college tennis match since the 2005 season, is currently the home to the Kennesaw State women's tennis team. In the future, with the recent addition of men's tennis as a sponsored sport beginning in 2008-09, the facility will be the primary home to both programs.

"We are really pleased with how the courts look," commented Greggs on the completed project. "We look forward to playing on the courts and seeing how the new surface plays."

The newly refinished courts will be used for tennis only by the men's and women's program's as well as the Kennesaw State campus community. For the first time, the venue will be monitored by the Recreation and Wellness Center.

"The courts will be monitored and players must have a valid identification," added Greggs. "The courts will for KSU students, alumni, faculty, staff and their guests only. We are all very excited to see the anticipated enthusiasm in the KSU Community for the great sport of tennis."
