Owls Win Second Event
Nov. 10, 2006 DeLAND, Fla. - Kris Shepherd and Wesley Sheard each shot a 4 over par 220 to lead the Owls to the championship of the 2006 Stetson/CFSC Invitational played at the Victoria Hills Golf Club. The Owls (50-23, 8-0) won their final event of the season, a nine-team event, by six strokes over runner-up Bethune-Cookman University. Kennesaw State was in a tie for second place behind BCU after the first round, but shot a 296 over the final two rounds to come-from-behind. Shepherd held the lead after two rounds after shooting a 1 over par 73 in the first round and a 1 under par 71 in the second round. However, a 4 over par 76 in the final round left the door open for Daniel Laughlin of Rollins to capture the individual title. Sheard shot a 4 over par 76 in the opening round and trimmed a pair of shots of his score in the second round before shooting the Owls lowest round of the tournament with a 2 under par 70. Michael Tulacz finished in 15th place with a 12 over par 228, but did improve his score in each round. The Owls newcomer began with a 6 over 78 in the first round and trimmed a pair of shots off his score in each of the next two rounds. Alex Jones (15 over par 231) finished 22nd while Robert Andrews (27 over par 243) finished in a tie for 35th place.
