NASSAU, Bahamas - The Owls men's basketball team enjoyed the Labor Day weekend with a pair of victories as they traveled to the islands for a preseason exhibition weekend. Kennesaw State defeated the Bahamas Rockets and the Coca Cola Explorers over the weekend in a tournament that also featured Wake Forest, Southern Mississippi and Alabama-Birmingham.

The Owls began play on Friday night with a 107-66 win over the local favorite Rockets. The Owls then downed the Explorers, a professional team from the Bahamas, 97-89, on Saturday afternoon with both games played at the Sir Kendall Isaacs Gym.

Kennesaw State used a balanced scoring attack with every player on the roster contributing in both games.

"This was a great experience for our players and our staff," said head coach Tony Ingle. "With seven freshmen and a total of nine new players it was vital to get our team on the court for some game experience."

The Owls, who had 10 days of NCAA sanctioned team practices in preparation for the exhibition weekend, will have some time off before the first official day of practice begins on October 13.

Kennesaw State will open the preseason on Thursday evening, November 2 when they play host to North Greenville at the KSU Convocation Center. The regular season opens with a home game against Western Kentucky on November 11.
