Owls Release 2008-09 Schedule
July 16, 2008
KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head men's basketball coach Tony Ingle and the Fighting Owls have announced the 2008-09 regular season schedule in a statement released this afternoon by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Owls will be entering their fourth and final transition season and will once again face another challenging slate of games beginning with the season opener featuring the annual meeting with Clark Atlanta at the KSU Convocation Center on November 18. In addition to the Atlantic Sun Conference schedule, which features home-and-home games with the 10 other conference teams, the Owls will take on a first-time opponent when they travel to Virginia on November 21 to meet James Madison. Kennesaw State will travel to upstate New York to battle Colgate on November 26. The Owls met Colgate for the first time last season when the Red Raiders faced the Owls in the 100 Club Classic Championship. A return meeting with Maryland-Eastern Shore kicks off a brief two-game home stand. The Owls will meet the Hawks on November 29 before playing the A-Sun opener against USC Upstate on December 1. Visits to Florida A&M (Dec. 13) and Savannah State (Dec.16) precede a pre-holiday battle with conference rival ETSU. The Owls and the Buccaneers will meet on December 23 at the KSU Convocation Center before the Owls begin a four-game road trip, the longest of the season. KSU begins the road trek with a New Year's Eve battle with the University of Georgia in Athens. KSU will then begin the remainder of their conference schedule as they travel to Campbell on January 5 before finishing the road trip with a swing through Florida to play Jacksonville and North Florida. The first half of the conference schedule sees Kennesaw State playing four of six games at home. However, after the first of the year, six of the eight conference games will see the Owls play on the road. "There are quit a few hurdles to overcome in the schedule this season," said head coach Tony Ingle. "But, every year we feel we put together a competitive and entertaining array of games for our fans before we head into a tough conference schedule." The second half of the conference schedule has the Owls playing six of the final 10 games at home, beginning with a season-long, four-game home stand in which the Owls play Campbell, Mercer, North Florida and Jacksonville. The final home stand of the season will see KSU battle defending A-Sun champions Belmont on February 20 and the Lipscomb Bisons on Senior Day, February 22. Last season, the Owls defeated both Belmont and Lipscomb at the KSU Convocation Center, marking the second time in three seasons that the Owls beat both the Bisons and the Bruins in back-to-back home games. The Owls final transition season concludes with games against ETSU and USC Upstate. 2008-09 KSU Opponents Non-Conference Home Games Non-Conference Away Games
