Kennesaw State Adds Roth to Basketball Staff
June 11, 2007 KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head coach Tony Ingle and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Che Roth as the assistant coach of the men's basketball team. "We are extremely excited to have him as part of the program," said Ingle. "Che is going to have a lot of responsibilities on and off the court as he helps us meet the demands of Division I." Roth comes to Kennesaw Sate after a successful two-year stint at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He will be the Owls third assistant coach joining a staff that includes Evan Black and Montez Robinson. "I am excited about the opportunity to work with Coach Ingle and to be a part of the Kennesaw State program," said Roth. "Coach Ingle has created a winning tradition through hard work and his direct involvement with his players. He has a genuine interest in every factor of his program and I look forward to contributing in all areas necessary for us to be successful." Last season Roth served as assistant coach and Director of Basketball Operations for UMKC. During his two years with the Kangaroos, he helped guide them to a better than 70 percent winning percentage in the Mid-Continent Conference. Before joining the UMKC staff, Roth spent three years as a student assistant coach at Washburn University where his team won three consecutive MIAA championships. In addition to his assistant coaching roles, Roth was selected as head coach for the United States 18 & Under team in the 2005 World Friendship Games in Amsterdam, where he led the USA to an 8-3 record and a silver medal against a field of 21 countries. With the Owls, Roth will be involved in practice sessions, scouting, local recruiting and will be spearheading some administrative responsibilities. In the past, Roth has worked coordinating summer camps, team community service projects and with the Owls he will also help coordinate the team's annual golf tournament fundraiser. Roth, a native of Spring Hill, Kan., is a graduate of Washburn University where he received a degree in Physical Education. |
