KSU Signs Charlotte Prep Star
April 29, 2008
KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head coach Tony Ingle has announced that Artie Marine has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Kennesaw State University and play for the Owls beginning in the 2008-09 season in an announcement made this morning at the KSU Convocation Center. "We're very pleased to have Artie sign with us," said Ingle on his freshman recruit. "We wanted to find a big guard who can shoot the ball well and we found that in Artie." Marine enjoyed a successful prep career at Independence High School. The 6-foot-6-inch forward was a Charlotte Observer Southwestern 4A First Team All-Conference selection in his senior season after he averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game for the Patriots. Twice during his senior season Marine scored 38 points, including accomplishing the feat against the No. 2-ranked team in Charlotte, Myers Park High School. "What we like about Artie is that he brings the total package to our program," added Ingle. "He's a good person; a person of character. He's a serious student who's academically responsible and he's an excellent basketball player." The native of Charlotte, N.C. has a mild connection to the Owls program as he played for the same head coach, Kancho Spasoff, as former Kennesaw State great Reggie McKoy. A highly touted recruit, Marine selected Kennesaw State over several Division I schools including Wright State and UNC Asheville. |
