March 2, 2007

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Kennesaw State's Ronell Wooten was a Second Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection as the league announced its postseason awards before the conference tournament this week.

Wooten, a junior, enjoyed his finest season of college basketball 2006-07 and became the first-ever Kennesaw State player to earn all-conference honors.

"We're extremely proud of Ronell and his accomplishments and what it means to him and his family," said head coach Tony Ingle.

Wooten, a native of Statesboro, Ga., led the Owls in scoring and was sixth in the league with a 14.7 points per game mark. During the season, Wooten had six 20-plus scoring games including a season-high 26 points against regular season A-Sun champions ETSU. Wooten also scored 25 against Georgia and had a 24-point effort against George Washington.

The Owls most dynamic player also finished 12th in the league in rebounds and was second in the A-Sun with 2.60 three-point field goals per game. In addition, he finished the season as an 82.2 percent free-throw shooter.

Joining Wooten on the second team all-conference list was Shaddean Aaron of Mercer, Eddie Ard and Brian Fisk of Lipscomb, Chris Gash of Gardner-Webb, Boomer Herndon of Belmont and ETSU's Brad Nuckles.
