Head Coach Sandra Fields |
Sandra Fields is a graduate from the University of Florida,
where she was a member of the Dazzlers dance team her junior
& senior year. Her junior year, Sandra switched majors
to Exercise & Sports Sciences and minored in Dance. After
the switch, she studied all spectrums of fitness/wellness,
including a practicum with UF Strength & Conditioning
coaches, working with UF athletes (women's basketball
and women's track).
Sandra graduated from UF with a degree in Exercise and Sports
Science and a minor in dance. Sandra began her coaching career
at KSU in 2002. Since coaching the KSU Rhythm Dance Team,
the squad progressively moved up the ranks at the Peach Belt
Dance Team competitions, they placed 5th in 2003, 3rd in 2004,
and took first place at the 2005 PBC competition! In 2005,
the Rhythm also competed at Nationals for the first time,
placing 5th in the Open Dance division.
Dancing happened on accident for Sandra. With no prior dance
training, she tried out for her middle school dance team and
made the squad. She danced for her high school squad and finally
took ballet, jazz, and modern classes when she turned 18 so
she could audition to be a dance major. Other dance credits
include being a 2005 captain for the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders,
this is her 3rd season with the Falcons and she's a
member of Show Troupe. She performed in musicals and dance
shows in college, including showcases in France, Miami, and
San Diego. TV credits include appearing in Whitney Houston's
video, "One of those days," and "R U the
Girl" on UPN. She choreographed for various middle &
high school dance and cheer squads, and she has judged several
tryouts & competitions.
In her spare time, Sandra enjoys reading, spending time with
family/friends, and training for fitness competitions. 2005
marked her first season as a fitness competitor; she hopes
to place top 10 in future national competitions, when she'll
compete against her idols she often reads about in fitness
magazines! |

Rhythm dance team places first in Peach
Belt Dance Competition
KSU's Rhythm Dance Team won the championship at the Peach
Belt Dance Competition when they beat seven other teams competing
for the first place title at Augusta State University's Athletic
Complex March 5.
The eleven woman team had been to the Peach
Belt Dance Competition before, but they always seemed to come
up short. With this success they are qualified to compete
in the Nationals April 6-10 in Daytona, Florida.
"In 2004, we went to Nationals to
support the KSU cheerleaders and to watch the dance competition,
just to see if this was something we were capable of,"
said Sandra Fields, KSU Rhythm Dance Team Coach. "After
watching our cheer squads in the United States [competition],
something clicked in all the returning KSU dancers."
